Behind the Scenes of Campside's Hit Podcasts Run Bambi Run, Wild Boys and The Official White Lotus Podcast
Let’s all head into the holiday weekend prepared with something quiet to do after all the barbecuing and fireworks. These pieces from Campside’s Inside the Tent will transport you to 1980’s Wisconsin, the early 2000’s in Canada and then present day Thailand. Each is well worth the trip. Happy 4th!
Run, Bambi, Run: Vanessa writes, “Before beginning work on my Campside and Apple TV+ podcast Run, Bambi, Run, I had never heard of one incredibly famous icon of the 1980s, with a life you can’t quite believe. Her name was Laurie Bembenek, or Bambi, for short.
There were so many twists in Bambi’s life: a gender-based lawsuit over her firing with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; a job as a Playboy Bunny at the Lake Geneva Playboy Club; and marriage to a handsome detective, one with his own nickname, Disco Fred. And then Disco Fred’s ex-wife turned up dead. Read more here.
Wild Boys: Host Sam Mullins is from the Canadian town where two brothers, the Wild Boys, unexpectedly showed up in 2003 with their miraculous story.
They’d been raised in the British Columbia wilderness, and this was their first-ever contact with society - they’d never seen a TV, gone to school, or registered for IDs.
So the town took them in and set about introducing them to the modern world. But were they actually… suburban kids from California? And how did Sam track them down years later? Read more, and listen here.
The White Lotus Official Podcast: Writer and director Mike White and his producer Dave Bernad managed to make season one during the pandemic by taking advantage of an empty luxury hotel… and by drawing from some fascinating details from White’s life.
What was originally envisioned as a one-off turned into a massive hit, with three seasons released to date. Get ready to hear from the Campeside team how this podcast series is different from any other we’ve produced. Read more, and listen here.
